Restoring lives since 2014
She Is More Than was founded by women for women.
What started as a small act of obedience has grown into an international movement — restoring freedom, dignity, and futures for hundreds of survivors across the globe.

2012
A.C. Black & Jane Anderson move to Uganda to serve with Mercy Childcare

2013
Our first home
In 2013, just after becoming a verified 501(c)(3) in the U.S., A.C. & Jane moved to Uganda and purchased very first restoration home for She Is More Than — a small space filled with big hope, where we welcomed and housed our first 8 survivors.
At that time, She Is More Than was 1 of only 3 organizations for trafficked and sexually abused teen girls in Uganda.

2018
She Is More Than voted a top 20 children's home in Uganda

2021
Breaking ground on 2.5 acres and our first forever home
In 2021, She Is More Than purchased 2.5 acres of hillside property and built our first permanent restoration home—bringing to life a vision founder A.C. once had of a “city on a hill.” Today, that dream is rising from the ground. The current home serves as a safe haven for 16 survivors and houses offices for our 8 full-time staff. It’s the first of six planned buildings, which will include three dormitories (accommodating up to 60 survivors), a full kitchen and cafeteria, an administrative office building, and a recreational area. Eventually, this original home will become our dedicated restoration center—where healing through trauma therapy and life-giving activities takes place.
This land is more than a place. It’s a promise fulfilled.
